Originally constructed between 1882 and 1885, Gold Creek Reservoir (Gold Creek Dam) was built as Brisbane’s second water supply. The dam was originally designed as an unlined chute, the dam wall was damaged during flooding in the early 1890’s and was replaced with the world’s first concrete stepped spillway, which is still in use. The dam was decommissioned in 1991 and now serves in a flood mitigation capacity.
